Sour Gas Testing

Selection and qualification of materials in the O&G industry requires subjecting the materials to simulated operating conditions. In many cases the environment comprises sour gas (hydrogen sulfide, H2S), typically in combination with other gases. Argen Polymer LLC carries out sour gas aging of materials at our new 15,000 sq. ft. facility.  We can follow up the aging with mechanical and analytical testing to provide our clients with results to make decisions, whether for standard test qualification or for gaining fundamental understanding of the system.  Our staff have over 25 years of experience handling H2S at high pressure and temperature.

Chemical & Mechanical Assessments

Simulated environment aging is typically followed by assessment of changes in physical and mechanical properties, such as tensile, flexural, compression, hardness, specific gravity, and others.

These properties are evaluated according to the relevant ASTM or ISO standards, on state-of-the-art, calibrated instruments. Additional techniques such as TGA, DSC, and DMA can be employed to gain additional insight into polymer degradation.

Safety & Experience

Because safety is a priority, we have invested in proper facilities and environmental controls. We operate a dedicated stand-alone building that is remotely monitored and sensored. All exhaust gases from this building are treated in a 16 ft tall caustic scrubber system.
