Formula Reconstruction Expertise

A common misconception about rubbers and polymers is that, in the cured state, their formulas cannot be reverse engineered. Yet the truth is with the right combination of advanced analytical techniques and compounding knowledge, a significant amount of information can be gleaned from a vulcanized, crosslinked polymeric material for thermosets, thermoplastics and composites alike.

At Argen we apply the knowledge of a combined 50 years of compounding science experience obtained in tire, oil & gas and chemical & plastics industries. We are also expert analytical chemists who know how to take full advantage of instrumental techniques. We have built an advanced system that traces many of the volatile materials that remain in a finished rubber to their starting raw materials.

Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting

Having decades of experience in companies that manufacture rubber and polymer products, our staff has provided trouble-shooting, root cause and failure analysis for multi-million dollar cases.  We use a multi-disciplined approach which involves collecting factual information relevant to the issue followed by systematic and defensible technical analysis.  We are equipped with a full range of chemical/compositional, microscopic, mechanical and thermal micro-techniques to get to the bottom of the issue at hand. We use statistical analysis as needed to draw out correlations and to ensure what we conclude is correct.   We have experience in product and process FMEAs (failure mechanism and effects analysis) and can manage these investigations as independent third-party.  We are versed in quality processes such as DMAIC Six Sigma and Lean to better support our clients should they have such needs.
